We've seen several articles and references to the use of therapeutic ultrasound treatment to unplugged very congested ducts. This appears to work well for stubborn problem, and several local chiropractors or physical therapists can perform this service. Be aware, however, that women who are running a fever and having aches, malaise, etc. in additionto the plugged ducts, are likely progressing to mastitis- true breast infection, and your midwife's advice would then include antibiotic treatment.
